The COVID 19 pandemic has permanently changed working life. In the future, it will be possible to work flexibly from home office or in an office. To meet these new requirements, we have expanded our COMFURNACY seal to also reflect the new “home office” working environment. COMFURNACY HO+ certifies office elements and offers innovative and at the same time ergonomic approaches for the home office.
COVID-19 has changed requirements sustainably
Remote working or working from home will shape our working world of the future in the “New Normal”. In recent years, many companies have started to allow their employees to work from home. In doing so, they are responding to the growing demand for home office: a study shows that a large percentage of office workers would like to work from home for around 2-3 days in the future. Numerous studies show that it is necessary to support employees in this. A recent study by the Technical University of Darmstadt shows that less than 5 percent of office workers receive advice or even financial support from their company when setting up a home office. This is exactly where our COMFURNACYHO+ comes in and supports home office employees in choosing their office elements.
- Productivity is highest in the home office
- Home office on the rise – every second German office worker would like to work from home in the future
- Left alone: Less than 5 percent of respondents have received advice or support from their company regarding their home office equipment – in Germany (3 percent) and the U.S. (1 percent)
COMFURNACY HO+ focuses on the nine COMFURNACY dimensions and four other important dimensions.
These dimensions were identified in surveys in Germany and the USA:
- Integration into the home office
- Flexible use in the home office
- High quality
- Affordable price
The quality of the office elements for the home and the possibility of integrating them are the main requirements for office workers. This is followed by the flexibility of use of the office element. The influence of the price is relatively small here.

The survey revealed that companies will have to view the home office as an additional work environment in the future. The reason for this is a better work-life balance and increased productivity. According to the survey, every second German office worker would like to work from home in the future.
